OpenMC model of the JSI TRIGA Mark-II reactor

OpenMC Model of the JSI TRIGA Mark-II Research Reactor

One detailed model of cores 133 and 189 is the common test bed for our fission-matrix, kinetics, and flux-reconstruction work.

With the Jožef Stefan Institute, we develop a detailed OpenMC model of the JSI TRIGA Mark-II reactor (cores 133 and 189). It includes fuel, control rods, grid plates, the graphite reflector, and irradiation channels.

The model is the common test bed for our methods. We use it to compare fission-matrix approaches, to propagate Monte Carlo uncertainties through fission-matrix solutions, to study control-rod effects on ex-core flux reconstruction and on higher-order fission-matrix eigenmodes, and to analyze the rod-insertion transient with the transient fission matrix.
